‘Oshi’

國畫My Chinese Painting. Inspired by Yang O-shi.

國畫Having looked right though some amazing pieces by Yang O-shi and her birds I have tried this month to learn from her works. Chinese calligraphy and painting isnt something that’s easy for me. I have never painted in my life and this is a trial, believe me. But I love it.

Eight Lucky Chinese Sparrows for 2009; Chinese Bird and Flower Painting. Yang O-shi inspired.

Eight Chinese Sparrows Bird Painting. I promised myself a long time ago when I started painting; Chinese painting, (May 2008) that I would feel as if I could paint a very simple bird if I could paint freehand a striong of Eight Chinese Sparrows on a bough of sorts. Well, time has gone on and suddenly it’s new years. So, in a “Now or Never” state, I had to make this painting. I am happy with the way it has come out as far as my education in this field has gone. I have many things to learn but technique is something I will chase for years yet. I am very new to paint brushes. I love it. There is something incredible about watching the paint touch the paper. And the wonderful easy essence of Chinese Artists as they make their real Chinese paintings. Lucky for me I am not contaminated by western paintings because I have never painted before. But Yang O-si’s book on Birds and Flora have so inspired me I aim to learn from her examples. I am happy with that. Too many masters and I end up with little. I hope this video entertains.
